Fastest man ever

Read this from the old press that released the list of fastest man ever in the history of mankind. According to CDC Sports Online, Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell is the world fastest man, with new record of 9.77 seconds set in Athens in 100m track event.

However, controversy occurs as some ppl ask why must be the one fastest in 100m event set as the standard for world's fastest man? why not 200m? 400m?

Look at this picture, what do you think? who should be crowned as the fastest man?


What's your opinion about this? and why? =P If you calculate it, 9.77*2= 19.54 sec, which is slower than 19.32 sec as shown above.

“The fastest man on the planet does not compete in the 100m but is in fact a 200m runner,” explains Whyte. “Why? Well, in both events the athlete starts from a stationary position and there is a requirement to accelerate to maximum velocity.

“Achieving this maximum velocity will take athletes in both events approximately 35-40 metres and the 200m by the nature of the distance will spend longer at peak velocity than the 100m runner.

“Therefore the average running velocity is higher in a 200m runner as they will run for approximately 160m at peak velocity compared to a 100m runner who will run for only around 60m at the same rate.”

For those still unconvinced, a cursory glance at the record books reveals a simple truth; Michael Johnson’s 200m world record of 19.32 - which he set in 1996 and which has yet to be beaten - equates to 9.66 for each 100 metres, significantly quicker than Asafa Powell’s 100m world record of 9.77 set in early 2005. Largest Island in the world

What do you think? Kinda like general geographic question =P but well it's here bit tricky to answer this question.

From meaning of the word 'Island' (which is a piece of land surrounded by water), Australia and Antarctica are needless to say the biggest islands in the world. However, they are more commonly known as 'continent'due to its large size of land which somehow more suitable to be named so.


So which island is accepted as the largest island in the world?
The answer is Greenland. Greenland is the world's largest island, which has 840,000 square miles (2,175,590 km2). This is followed by New guinea and world's third is Borneo island.

Some interesting information about the world's largest island. Greenland is not only the world's largest but it's unique in the fact that 81% of the country is ice and glaciers. The coastal edges consist mainly of Tundra and bush Tundra.

Largest Fish in the World

The Whale Shark is the largest fish in the world and, in spite of its name, it is not a “Whale” it is a “Shark”. Given its name because of its sheer size, Rhincodon typus was first identified off the coast of South Africa in 1828.


Whale Sharks are in the order Orectolobiformes, often referred to as “Carpet Sharks” because many members in this family have carpet-like patterns. Relatives within this classification number only 32 species including the Nurse Shark, Wobbegong and the Blind Shark, a nocturnal feeder that is not blind at all but has a habit of closing its eyes when caught or disturbed, thus its common name.



Unlike the Great White Shark propelling through the ocean like a torpedo, the marine giant Whale Shark is a slow moving plankton feeder, normally traveling no more than 5mph it is relatively harmless to divers and, as always, best left undisturbed.

World Fastest Civil Aircraft

Gulfstream G650 is the world fastest civil non-military aircraft ever.

Since the 1960s, the Gulfstream jet has been synonymous with the fastest, ultra luxury business travel regardless of cost – only 1600 have ever been made but now, the company is raising the bar with a new ultra-large cabin G650 due in 2012.

The US$58.5 million G650 is capable of traveling 7,000 nautical miles (8055 miles) at 0.85 Mach (647 ph/1,041 km/h) or 5,000 nautical miles (5,753 miles) at 0.90 Mach (685 mph/1,102 km/h) and has a top speed of 0.925 Mach (794 mph/1,133 km/h), which will make it the fastest non-military aircraft flying. It will even cruise at 51,000 ft, in order to avoid airline-traffic congestion and adverse weather.

World Longest Bridge

China is well known for aiming at world records - after the spectacular Three Gorges Dam on Yangtze River and the Maglev in Shanghai, the world's fastest rail line with a top speed of 434 km/h, another superlative is about to be created: the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the world's longest sea-crossing structure connecting Shanghai in the North with Ningbo in the South.

The Hangzhou Bay Bridge will span 36 kilometres across the East China Sea. When it opens next year (2009), it will be the longest trans-oceanic bridge in the world, and seven times longer than the Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, the pride of Europe. If it could be moved to the straits of Dover it would link England with France.

The world's shortest couple: Chen Guilan, the wife, is 0.7 m (2.3 ft) tall, while the husband, Li Tangyong, is 1.1 m (3.6 ft) tall.

The couple got married in Shunde, Guangdong Province (southeastern China) on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, during the National Day (1 October) holiday. Their dwarfism is congenital (hereditary) and their love story, started three years ago, was initially opposed by her parents, as specialists don’t recommend marriages in such case.

World Shortest Man

The world's shortest living man is now officially recorded -- is a Chinese :
The 20-year-old He Pingping. The man is 73 cm (2.4 feet) tall and he is a native of Huade county, Wulanchabu city (in Inner Mongolia province). His father, He Yun, said that, at birth, he had been only the size of an adult's palm.

The parents of He are both of normal height. He Pingping suffers from a bone condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which impedes the normal growth of bone and bodily height.
"At birth, he was only the size of an adult's palm," said his father, He Yun.
The man had applied at the Guinness Book of Records in 2007. Guinness confirmed his world record after He's height was measured three times - morning, noon and night – at the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region Hospital. His record and picture will be in the 2009 edition.

* As you can see, I said Shortest Living Man. Actually I've found another shorter than this, but he has passed away due to heart failure. He is Nelson Aquino de la Rosa, The shortest man in the world, He is 54 centimeters tall (about 1 1/2 feet). And if that wasn't strange enough he has quite a good looking wife and a 2 year old son who is taller than he is. He died in October 22, 2006 at the age of 38.

Ya, Today's special is Tallest, the tallest skyscraper in the world!

still KL petronas Twin Tower? nono, it had been taken over by Taipei 101 Tower upon announcement of its construction ends in 2004. And now Taipei 101 is the world tallest building but... soon after this year, it'll no more be the tallest, a much more huge giant taller skyscraper is gonna take over its place and declare itself as the tallest ever in the history of mankind!

Today Samsung Korea showcased the world’s smallest dual-core notebook which also has an extremely stylish feel to it. The Samsung Q35 is extremly mobile and once again Samsung has managed to stand apart from its rivals. The notebook just weighs about 1.9kg and features a brilliant 12.1inch, 1280 × 800 widescreen display.
The Samsung Q35 is just not about the external package and one finds a powerful performer despite its miniscule size. The Q35 is powered on an Intel Core Duo T2700 processor which is connected to an Intel 945GM chipset across a 667MHz front side bus. The notebook has 80 GB of disk space with 512MB of 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM. It runs on Windows XP and has a DVD±R/RW drive too.
The Samsung Q35 has superb audio capabilities and HD audio system is boosted with SRS' 3D sound technology. World Smallest Bird

What is the world's smallest bird?
The world's smallest bird is the Mellisuga helenae or zunzún, as it is known it's native Cuba.
Not a scientist or Cuban? You might then know it as the Bee Hummingbird.
The Bee Hummingbird is about the size of a , you guessed it, bee. That translates to 2.5 inches or 6.2 cm in length and 1.6 grams or 0.06 oz in weight!
The Bee Hummingbird also lays the world's smallest bird eggs which are about the size of your smallest fingernail!
